Hike or bike on this former tow path canal used to transport cargo from Cumberland, Md., to Georgetown in the District of Columbia, during the latter half of the nineteenth century. The canal runs 184.5 miles from DC to Cumberland, including a portion along the Potomac on the Maryland side of the border with West Virginia, from Harpers Ferry to Paw Paw, site of the Paw Paw tunnel.
